A dance parade for Hamburg!

Barmbek-Nord

The start and ending point of the City Parade will be announced here later.

On Sunday June 14, 2026 the very first parade dedicated to dance and the people of Hamburg will take place in Barmbek Nord. The City Parade treats the city itself as a stage, breaking open traditional performance formats and exploring new forms of encounter between artists and the public. Through artistic interventions, public engagement and cross-generational participation, Braves Moves. Courageous Joy., will be put into action.

The City Parade will put a spotlight on the diversity of dance cultures and communities living in Hamburg, ranging from commissioned choreographies from local artists to community made dances, dance schools, associations and clubs, such as Die Antwort, Contemporary Dance School Hamburg, Erika Klütz Schule, Lola Rogge Schule, Step by Step and many more.

The finale of the City Parade will be choreographed by Hamburg-based choreographer Patricia Carolin Mai and together with the MAI:COMPANY, will share a participatory choreography for all to join in the Stadtpark.

The City Parade will also mark a special moment between two triennals in Hamburg - the last day of the opening of the 9th Triennial of Photography and the first day of the Tanztriennale. For this reason, the parade begins at Museum der Arbeit, a partner in the Triennale of Photography program, and dances towards the Stadtpark for the finalé.

An open call for participation has been published.
